FAQ sur les plaques routières et les couvertures de tranchées

United Rentals has the trench cover and road plate solutions for your project. Our durable road plate rentals are designed to handle heavy-duty vehicles and equipment loads, making them ideal for construction sites, highway work and utility maintenance. Several of our steel plates feature an anti-skid coating for added safety and increased thickness for extra crossing capacity. (Additional equipment may be necessary to lift and install steel traffic plates.) For pedestrian access or for lighter vehicles, our composite trench cover rentals are easy to install and reposition. We offer roadway plates and trench cover plates in various dimensions and weight capacities to meet your specific needs. Trust United Rentals for your road plate rental to keep your project moving safely and efficiently.

Learn more about our road plates and trench covers in our FAQ section below.

FAQ
What is the difference between road plates and trench covers?

The primary difference between road plates and trench covers is their material and intended use. Road plates, also known as street plates, are made from heavy-duty steel or composite materials and are designed to support the weight of vehicles and heavy equipment crossing over trenches or excavations. Trench covers are often made of lighter composite materials, making them portable and ideal for covering smaller holes or creating safe pedestrian walkways. Composite trench covers can often be installed by one or two people, whereas steel or composite road plates require equipment to lift.

What materials are needed to secure, install and remove road plates and trench covers?

Due to their significant weight, steel and composite road plates require lifting equipment, such as a forklift or a crane with a plate lifting tool, for installation and removal. They can be secured with pins or by building an asphalt edge to prevent shifting. Lightweight composite trench covers can often be installed manually by one or two workers and may be secured with bolts if needed.

How many road plates or trench covers do I need? What size do I need?

To determine the number and size of road plates or trench covers, measure your trench width and add a minimum of 12 to 24 inches of overlap on each side for safety. For assistance deciding the number and size of road plates needed for your project, contact a United Rentals representative.
